blues-ie: think closet dress + topshop wedges

SOMETIMES I FEEL like the blue power ranger. Billy. I've got blue dresses for dayyyyyys and ya know what? Blue toes, too...

But the blue power ranger def wouldn't wear these shades. Or these shoes. Actually, maybe he would. Who am I to say?

I digress. One of my favorite features of this dress (obvi the short hemline hehe) is how the collar camouflages into the floral print. Big ups to Think Closet for this one :)

grey days: topshop midi

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAAAAHAHA. Trying to balance on a fire hydrant is surprisingly difficult. Also, it's hilarious. Also, always never trust a photographer to help you because the shot is never always more important than your safety.

Love this dress. Easy. Breezy. Sexy. Cool. It's an: "Aaaahhh what do I wear today. Oh right, that dress I can wear anywhere!" type of dress. Perf.

your new favorite fall color: anything eggplant, wine or chocolate

IT ALL STARTED with a rainy stroll past the Rag & Bone store on Houston + Elizabeth (so hot for those jeans right now) and ended with an obsessive internet scour for awesomelycoloredeverything. Must have delicious color trends...

I don't think it's fair to have the description for Essie's Velvet Voyage be "an intense chocolate amethyst." I now want to eat the nail polish. #oops #dangerous

SIDEBAR: OhMyG Fashion's Night Out is tomorrow! I'm making a list and checking it twice: what I'm wearing and where I'm going. Full details tomorrow!

summer blacks: jeffrey campbell and pixie market

I KEEP FINDING myself lusting after black heels/flats to combo with my girly, floral summer clothes.

Thanks to a frigidly cold NYC winter, I have more than enough boots/booties, but a solid pair of heels with traditional summer textures and features, like weaving and cutouts, paired with a non-traditional summer color (ah, love black) is quickly becoming a must in my.world.of.style.

Per usual Jeffrey Campbell and Pixie Market have come to my rescue. Now comes the choice... but which one!?

she could be a basketball player in those clothes: white zara tank + harem pants

DID EVERYONE GET the above Clueless reference? If not, that's cool too. SMH...

These, ladies and gentleman, are my very first pair of harem pants. #Finally!
The combo of white tank + all-American blue baggy pants reminded me of basketball, which semi-embarrassingly made me feel cooler. Like, I'd get mad respect yo. On the court, or whatever.

It also reminded me of this Sartorialist Post linking men's fashion on the bball court to men's fashion on the runway. *You mean the jocks and the gays can be friends!? HOORAH!

More harems here and here and gee golly, here!

Sidebar: Did you know harem pants originated in India and are traditionally worn with a pleated skirt covering the top portion. Me neither! And we learned something today :-)

skyhigh florals: jack for bb dakota cicily dress + vintage boots

CRAWLING THROUGH MY bedroom window reminded me of middle school. I used to sneak out... sorry mom. #confession

But, it was worth it to snap some pics on my fire escape!
You might remember this dress from an earlier post, when it was a newly arrived package. It has now made its debut on my blog. Well, that's because IT ROCKS. I love the button detail on the back. I've said it before and I'll say it again: its.the.little.things.

Florals are a summer fav because of their incessant ability to make the wearer smile :-)
Here are a few to draw those lips into a grin:

Zara: Tulip Skirt Dress
Alice + Olivia: Matilda Dress
Paprika via ASOS: Floral Chiffon Dress
ASOS: Floral Print Dress
Sidenote: This umbrella'd building next door was taken over by hippie squatters due to the "Adverse Possession" law. Awesome crazy homeless hippies.

stripes, hear 'em roar: ganni dress + all saints shoes + jenny bird jewelry

INSPIRATION MEANS MANY things to many people. Sometimes, it takes a roaring lion pendant or trendy sunnies to perk up your outfit and subsequently, your happiness. #itsthelittlethings

All Saints has an incredible selection of shoes right now. Like, really though. I think these 3 each bring out a different side to this simple tank dress.

Sparkly, shiny flats → flirtatious!
Lace up, peep toe booties → scandy!
Cream espadrille → beachbum-a-licious!

Which are you?

shoevulsion in floral: jeffrey campbell lace up wedge

...DANCE IN THE forest like a woodland fairy. Floral and playful, but a dark and twisted beauty-in-the-rough. Reminiscent of Grimm's fairy tales, dragons, and knights from a time long ago, but (and this is important) can also play in my NYC closet. Oh, won't you be MINE?

Mixing florals with a dress like this or edging out a girly dress like this will make these babies pop.

And, and, they have a hint of a heel. Making it easier to escape the dragons. Obvi.
